Just like a horror film, this was was one to send chills up your spine. Feeling alone and vulnerable, like no one cared, like no one even existed, the lone mare walked through the field. Dust picked up, trailing behind her for a short amount of time before dissipating into thin air. Golden mare stood out, being the most bright of the den and roan grass. Fog was thick, covering the land, almost to the point where she couldn't see if a tree was in front of her, unless it was so close she'd hit it. Her heart pounded quickly, hurting her, and a lump grew in her throat. She just wanted to scream, and wouldn't hesitate to do so when something or someone appeared in front of her. Taking slow and careful steps, picking her legs up high so she wouldn't trip, the Haflinger mare walked about.
The little trickling sounds of the creek was coming into her reach. She could smell the water, the life, but could hear the whispers of the stream. Cold and dripping, she wanted to get a drink and hoped it would calm her. Picking up her pace since she couldn't stand the slow speed, she ran right into the creek. Stopping as the water splashed up on her underbelly, she reared and thrashed her hooves; startled by the touch. Shaking her head and calming herself, she lowered her head to the ground and gulped the water like she never has had water in her whole life. I should stay here, someone would come, wouldn't they? She felt so alone and so vulnerable. She hated it. Where was everybody?

The lands had been empty for some time. Not a soul had passed through them in ages; the sound of hoofbeats, once endemic to the plains of Yen had long since vanished. Slowly but surely, its inhabitants moved on, driven off by the eerie fog that hung around. The god had watched with a twisted sneer as they passed, his gaze from the heavens watching them as their years went by like minutes to him. In his eyes, those who left were a burden leaving his back. If one wanted to leave such a land as his, they were obviously of little worth. What the cat like god of lightning wanted was loyalty. He himself would wander around, picking up all who strayed into his path, pledging his loyalties to no one. But those who fell under his spell were commanded to give their full attentions to him. Anything less meant ill tidings and the chance of a curse.
It was these that Aloysius sent to those who abandoned him. Even now, hiding amongst the thick fog of his own making he thought of ways to spite them. He stood in the center of the creek that cut through the land, a scowl tainting his golden complexion. They'll pay for what they did. He thought, dismissing the sound of someone splashing about in the water. They'll pay for generations.
His thoughts were like the storms he set alight. Tremulous, dark, and heavy. They were so encompassing that Aloysius barely noticed the mare's presence till she came close to the bank of fog that concealed him. Snapping to attention, his vibrant green eyes eyed her over, thick tendrils of fog reaching out to dance at her hooves. She was pretty. A dark palomino colour with a clean stripe splitting her face. The god smiled lightly as he watched her drink, a low purr sounding from his chest. It had felt like eons since he had time to spend with any mares.
Blowing gently outwards, the heavy mist cut open, so that the golden stag could appear. Curls of it played at his mane and hooves, biting back as he stepped forward through the water towards the mare. You seem frightened. He cooed, his voice deep and luxurious. His tail whisked about behind him, sweeping just above the water. What brings you here?

Hearing the grass shuffle and the water breaking, the Haflinger mare spun around. Her eyes were wide, the whites showing, and her nostrils flared. Inhaling deeply, her jaw dropped, ready to scream. Just as she was going to let go, she cut her voice off and snapped her jaws shut, not even caring about her small sharp feline teeth that were hidden behind thick lips. Ears perked, the mare shook at the sight. Was.. was Aloysius really down here? Looking at her? Talking to her? Blinking several times, her eyes looking over his body with a little dazzled look in her eyes. Lowering her head in respect, she took a slow and short step back; what was she to do? W-well, I was born and raised in Yen.... sir. Calliope flicked her audit, very quickly and not too noticeably. Taking in a small breath, she tried to calm the heart that pounded at her chest, begging to break free. Looking down at her own reflection, she was embarrassed. Her expression was non-the-less, frightened, terrified, and horrified. You are... Aloysius... right? Tilting her head ever so slightly, Cali gulped and watched him carefully. What was she to do? What was she to say?

It appeared as if he had frightened her even more. The god was almost certain he could see her readying herself to screech; so she had been blessed with a gift. Looking closer, he could vaguely see feline teeth hidden away in her mouth. A small, entrancing smile graced his lips, flashing sharp teeth to the lone mare. So she was special. She took a step back and he took a half step forward. Aloysius found himself intrigued by her. He didn't know her name, and already he wanted to know more. Who was she? Why was she alone? So many questions bubbled behind his bright eyes.
Then she spoke. She stuttered at first; clearly nervous. She knew who he was, knew of his power and his reputation. Her stance was respectful, but in a frightful way. He wanted to comfort her, to gain her trust so that he may get closer. Chuckling lightly, the sound dark and rich, his smile grew wider. Born and raised here? He questioned, curious now more than ever. It appears as if I have some loyal subjects after all. There was a bitter tinge to his words, but he quickly masked them with another careful step forward.
A rumbling sound like a purr worked its way out of his chest, his eyes soaking in the mare's appearance. She was embarrassed, that much he could tell. His ears perked, vaguely catching the sharp sounds of her quick breathes. How cute. He thought, his head tipping gently to the side. Indeed, I am. He said, taking pride in the fact that she recognized him. Yet, I wonder. He began, his head reaching forward to look more intently into her eyes. Who might you be?

As if they were tied together, Aloysius took a half step forward as she took a half step back. Almost like a dance, she took another small step back. Seriously, meeting a God as she wished to meet someone, why was he still standing here? The golden mare snorted gently, her eyes straying to look into his. Noticing his large teeth, she grinned lightly, her small tips showing off. His pur was soothing, making her heartbeat grow slower and slower, her body relaxing and not so tense anymore. Yes... born and raised.. Her voice trailed along, bonding together and dissipating into the wind. Rusted grass shuffled, her cream mane and tail dancing as the breeze came through. She was now standing out of the water, but close enough so that if the wind blew in the right diretion, her hooves would meet with the water again. Looking over Aloysius, she smiled; he was gorgeous, many unique markings and more. This is what life was like meeting a God. Was she touched? Moved? What was so special about her? Wasn't this a once in a lifetime experience? I am Calliope, sir..

She visibly relaxed as the seconds ticked by. Aloysius grinned inwardly, pleased with the affect he was having on her. If he played his cards right, he might have the mare all to himself sooner than expected. Calliope? He asked, her name sliding off his tongue like satin. A pretty name for a pretty mare. She was out of the water, but only just so. Her hooves were gently brushed by the water each time a wave crashed against the shallow shoreline. The water was becoming a bother to the god; he preferred much to be dry. With a deep, even intake of air, the water shrank back. Aloysius stepped forward, walking on the stony bottom of what had been the creek. His hooves moved without making a sound, tendrils of fog creeping along in his wake.
The steady pur grew louder, shaking the god's deep chest. What brings you out here by yourself? He asked, more questioning to see if a stallion should dare come to interrupt him than anything. You seem fit enough to care for yourself well enough, but I still wonder. The stallion paused a moment here, his tail sweeping behind him as he looked to the side, then looking back at Calliope through the very edge of his gaze. There are terrible beasts out here, Calliope. He began again, his tone very low and intense. Beasts that would take no greater joy than to tear you apart. His eyes flickered, as if remembering a time when they had seen such a thing happen.
If I may He spoke, his head tipping upwards with a regal flick. His ears had pinned back, as if he were worried she would reject his coming offer. May I escort you to a safer place, my fair lady? He looked her over once more, drinking in her beauty yet again. Aloysius had other things in mind, but he would bate his urges till they had reached a more comforting place. The water's edge was too open; too many things that could come to interrupt what he had in mind.
