About the shop, I was looking in there, and the prices are sky high. I'm aware that you don't karma for posting, it's awarded by staff or by someone clicking 'exalt' under your avatar and such. I was just wondering how us members were supposed to go around getting this karma to buy things from the shop. It just struck me easier to use a money code, to where every post you do, you get x amount of money or whatever, to spend at the shop. I'm not saying this to be rude, but just curious.

Contests.
c:
You get a lot of karma for entering contests and even more for winning a place in them.
My reasoning behind why we don't use a money code is that people could simply post OOC like in a chat thread like this and get karma for it, but that's just me.
We want you guys to have to work for the karma you get, because its not very much fun if the whole site is saturated with pimped out ponies.

There's already an advertising "contest" going on where you can earn 100 karma per unique advertisement you place. You'd only have to do maybe 10-15 advertisements to afford quite a few of the items in the shop.
And like Fizz said, there are reasons we don't use a karma-per-post system, and we set prices high so that special things purchased in the shop remain rarer. It's really no fun if every single horse has 10 powers, immortality, and can shape shift. They're suppose to be the unique ones, not the norm. xD
